HIS own home could soon become packed to the rafters, given how much actor Erik Thomson is loving fatherhood.

The 41-year-old star of the Seven series of the same name is celebrating his second Father’s Day today with daughter Eilish, 14 months, and wife Caitlin McDougall.”I’m loving it,” the actor, who has a house in Port Noarlunga, said of fatherhood.

“It’s hard to put it into words. She’s just a great girl and I’m just loving getting to know this little person who happens to live in our house.”

The family has been based in Sydney for the past seven months during filming of Packed To The Rafters, a show that’s proving a ratings winner for Seven.

“We just have to improve in Adelaide, which is the only one we’re not number one in,” Erik said. “We’re just behind NCIS there.” Filming on the first series will wrap up in three weeks, when Erik, Caitlin and Eilish head back to their South Australian home.

Erik revealed writing had started on series two of Rafters but no definite plans are in place.

In the meantime, the actor has scored a role in a new movie being filmed in SA. He won’t give details at this stage but it’s rumoured to be the new Scott Hicks flick, The Boys Are Back In Town. It’s been a massive year for the well-known actor, who also shot a movie with Geena Davis called Accidents Happen.

Taking time out from his busy schedule to spend with his girls is a priority for Erik, who says he’s not sure what’s in store for him on Father’s Day. “We might go to the park and spend time with Eilish and leave it at that,” he said.

“She’s a bundle of light. I highly recommend it.”
